Zanji lay within his bedroom within the village hidden in the leafs. The sun was high and everything within the village was peaceful. He sat within his private library looking over some scrolls. He was reading up about the uzumaki families history to pass the time. He was rather bored and since he wasn't out on any mission he decided to do a little light reading. And by light he meant a very large scroll. He rubbed his eyes in irritation as he had been up since dawn reading barely having of taken a break from reading. His stomach lurched and growled angrily as he skipped breakfast and it was about lunch time. He sighed and placed a book mark where he was to continue as his stomach was starting to annoy the hell out of him. He carefully rolled the scroll up and left it on the table as he was far to lazy at the moment to return it to its proper position.

He slowly left the library passing by his bedroom when he stopped in his tracks. He had totally forgotten to do a most important task he had meant to do. He even left written reminders on his bedroom door. He sighed and took the notices off the bedroom and crumbled them up and tossed them in the trashcan he had in his room. He let out a long yawn and grabbed a small jar of ink used specifically for sealing jutsu and a brush and went into his bathroom. He removed his shirt and began to draw on the sealing formula across his chest. giggling slightly as the brush tickled his skin/ Who ever was to kill him now well they would have a little surprise for them. He then brought his hands up and channeled his chakra along the formula the markings fading into his body quickly. It was somewhat painful but he bit his tongue and did not scream he did not wish to alert the neighbors. He panted a few times and bent over and picked up his shirt and placed it back over his front.

He exited his room a grin on his face as he had set a rather ingenious trap on himself. Oh how he loved being a master of sealing jutsu yet at times he wished he could do more than just seal. his skillss inninjutsu weren't terrible but still he could use improvement. he walked over to his kitchen and put on a kettle of tea on the stove. He needed a little caffeine in his system but more than that he needed a snack. He moved to his fridge and spotted a calendar and noticed that today's date was circled. He bent over and examined it and smacked his head in agitation. He was supposed to be having tea with his cousin today more specifically any moment. He swore loudly and scrambled and picked up his somewhat messy living room and tossed it into his hallway closet when he heard the sound of foot steps approaching near his door way. He smoothed out his shirt and ran back to the kitchen and placed a few cookies on it and waited to see if the unknown person was visiting him or just a neighbor passing by.

Hana had woken up once again this morning and her mother was gone. This had started to happen on a regular basis but she didn't know why. It was like her mother didn't want to be around her or she just had something she couldn't tell the girl. It was like her mother lived half a life of secrets and half a life of honesty, kindness, and care. What was so important that she couldn't tell her own daughter? Hana had asked herself this a few times but shrugged it away every morning.

This morning the girl would shower and get washed up. When she was done, she would return to her room wrapped in a towel and dress herself. Her attire consisted of a black T-Shirt, blue jean shorts, her normal black shinobi sandals, and her headband with a black colored cloth. The girls hair would be thrown up into a ponytail with two strands of hair framing her face and her bangs cut straight across her forehead. Hana's head and would sit right behind the hairline made by the girls bangs. The finishing touch was the very necklace her father had given her mother, who had given it to Hana.

The girl would exit her room ready to leave for a normal day of doing nothing, until she found a note. It was a very simple one reading. "Remember tea with your cousin today. Love, Mom" This would make Hana sigh. She had met her cousin one day while she was out with her mom. Appearantly, She had family living in the village that knew her but she had never been introduced to them. So, on the day she met him She was invited over for tea. Hana's mother had declined with the excuse of being far too busy. Busy with what? Well, Hana had no idea but she would accept. The girl didn't want to hurt anyone's feeling besides it might be nice knowing more of her family.

So, Hana made her way to her cousins house. Hana's mother had written directions on this note she had left sometime this morning. At one point, she believed herself to be reading them wrong but she continued in anyway. Soon enough, she found herself in front of a door. 'I don't know if this is really it but I guess it won't hurt to try.' Hana would take a breath after stuffing the piece of paper into her pocket. Her hand lifting to knock but hesitated to do so. Eventually, the girl would convince herself and she would knock.

Zanji hummed to himself as he opened a drawer and pulled out a box of matches. He turned on the burner the teakettle was on and light a match igniting it. He quickly pulled the match out and blew out the flame and tossed it into the sink just as his door was knocked upon. He would have to get the other tea stuff set up later. He raised his voice to a mild shout saying "I'm coming be there in a minute." He cracked his knuckles as he left the kitchen and moved towards the front door. He had never met his cousin before and he was looking forward to it. It was always so nice to know the uzumaki bloodline still flourishes even after 200 years. He reached the front door and unlocked the locks and opened the door a smile on his face.

What he saw made him beam a little wider as his cousin retained the uzumaki red hair. Oh how he loved his red hair, he tossed a few stray hairs from his face. "Ah you must be Hana it's so wonderful to finally meet you I haven't seen you since you were a tiny baby you sure have grown please come in come in." He smiled and would close the door behind her when she entered his humble little home. He beamed and gave a smile of kindness as he walked out of the hallway slowly heading towards the kitchen. "I hope it wasn't too difficult finding the house, make your self at home I just put the kettle on." He moved into the kitchen and grabbed a teapot and two clean cups from a cupboard. He stopped for a moment as he looked at the tea selections he had to offer. He didn't have many but im sure one of them would suit his little cousins needs. "Hana what kind of tea would you like i have red, herbal green and jasmine tea any preference?"

Hana stood at the door, which she has just knocked upon. The girl was very nervous to see this cousin of hers. She didn't know what he'd look like or what he'd be like. What if he was weird? What if he was mean? What if she just didn't like him? The girl's head would shake side to side. ' Don't think that way Hana. Family is family. ' Hana would then look up at the door. At this very moment, she would hear a voice on the other side. So, she would continue to stand in wait. However, she wasn't in wait long before the door was open. She looked up to the man with a smile on his face. Hana would then smile a back but her smile seemed a bit more nervous.

The girl would watch his movements but he didn't seem like much of a bad person. She waited as he fixed the stray hair that hung in his face. His hair was red of course ans this started to make Hana wonder. Hana would listen to her cousin speak and once again she would smile shyly. However, when he was finished Hana would slowly enter. Her movements seemed a bit hesitant. This was an unfamiliar environment with an unfamiliar person. Who wouldn't be nervous or at least a bit scared? Hana would hear him speak again and again she wouldn't say a single word. She didn't know what to say or what to do. This was one of those times she wished her mother had decided to come with her but she was nowhere to be found...again. However, with the next few words Hana would have to answer. It would be rude not to answer a question she had been asked. " Uhh.. I'm not really picky about what I drink. You can pick any of them sounds fine. " Hana would reply from the very spot she had decided to stand when she entered.

He hummed happily as he ruffled through his kitchen. He placed the teapot on a serving tray along with the two cups. Sadly all he had was tea leaves and none of that tea bag. Though he was glad in a way tea leaves had better flavor in his own opinion. He hoped his little cousin wouldn't mind. He placed the tea pot and two glasses inside his oven to get them nice and warm. After all a bit of consideration makes a world of difference. The tea kettle soon began to boil he could hear the water beginning to bubble inside it. It was good timing on his part that he placed the teapot and cups in the oven to preheat. He looked over the tea choices a few times pondering silently to himself on what to choose. He shrugged his arms and would just go with jasmine tea.

He put o a pair of oven mittens and took out the tea pot and placed it back on the tray then along with the two cups. He Lift the top of the tea pot and placed inside it some of the jasmine tea leaves just as the kettle whistled loudly. He reached out and took the kettle and slowly poured in the hot water into the tea pot. He watched as the bubbles in the tea pot grew large and slowly began to pop one after another. He would let it set for a few moments to allow the bubbles to break down to the size of little coins. By doing that it would give the leaves some time to dance in the water spreading there flavor and aroma everywhere they would go. He put the lid on the teapot and quickly placed a tea pot kettle over it and began to count to 60 inside his mind as he shut off his stove and oven. He looked over at his little cousin and walked over a gentle smile on his face as he set it down on his coffee table by his couch.

He chuckled and removed the tea cover and placed it on the table. "Tea is served Hana hope you don't mind tea leaves I find they provide more flavor and aroma than tea packets." He chuckled happily as he poured Hana's cup first and then his own. "Oh and please be careful the mugs are a little hot." He walked back over to the kitchen and grabbed the plate of cookies and walked back over to Hana. "So Hana tell me a bit about yourself I'm very curious to know about my little cousin." He reached over and grabbed his tea cup and blew on it a few times and sat down on his couch and quietly sipped his tea. Ahh nothing beats a fresh cup of tea brewed the proper way. It put his mind at ease and relax a little he was not use to having house guests. But it was nice to have family over and converse with.

Hana had started to here the small sounds of things clattering. This would make the girl realize she hadn't moved yet. ' Would it be rude not to move? Would it be ok to move? ' These questions ran through the girl's head for a moment. ' Well, he did say make myself at home and this is family. Why am I so afraid anyway? ' Hana would reassure herself inside her mind. So, with that the girl would move to a room with a coffee table and a couch. The girl hoped she was in the right room but then again she was really worrying for no reason. What other room had a coffee table and a couch?

As the girl stood, she would hear the sounds of whistling. Then, the child would see her cousin emerge from the kitchen. He would pour the tea after speaking of tea leaves. She would listen to his words and blink a few times. He would then speak of the cups being hot so the girl decided to wait until the tea cooled before she drank hers. She would then watch him disappear into the kitchen and return with a plate of cookies. He would then speak once more but this time he was asking about her.

Hana would freeze up for a moment. The first thought that came to the child's mind was, ' That creature. ' However, she decided it would be best to not speak of that first and maybe not at all. So, the child would continue to stand and make small conversation. " Well, I'm a genin of course. I made some friends but not many. People don't see to like my hair... " Hana would blush a little and look down as she thought about the nickname they gave her but then she'd look back up. " Mama has been teaching me things. I'm not really great at anything and it makes me feel a little useless. I don't care though because I'm going to become the best. " Hana would say this with a large smile on her face. The girl thought of her father but then she thought of the flaming feline again. Her mind seemed to scramble for a moment leaving her face a little expressionless.

Zanji smirked happily as he sipped onto his hot tea as he listened to his little cousin speak. She was rather shy it seemed. She also seemed rather timid but perhaps this was because she was in a strangers house and all. He set his teacup down on a coaster on the table and  scratched underneath his chin for a moment.  So she was a genin ninja at the moment it almost seemed like yesterday when he was back in his genin days. Oh how he would squabble with his one team mate but eventually they became the very best of friends. He smirked and gave a silent chuckle at the memories he had. "Ah a genin already well that's wonderful to hear your on your way to becoming a strong capable shinobi."

He beamed happily and slowly reached out and took a cookie from the plate and nibbled on it. Well it was better to have had something small in his stomach than to not of had nothing at all. He would treat himself to a large dinner this night perhaps visit ichiraku ramen.  He took a large bit out of the cookie in his hand and chewed it quietly remaining silent as his little cousin spoke once again. Oh she was a ambitious one after all. Perhaps there was a bit of him he could see in her after all. For this girl also sought to be the best.  He swallowed the mushed up cookie remains in his mouth and took another long sip of his tea to help wash it down. "Well to be the very best Hana you will need a lot of discipline and hard work, have you been placed in your squad yet?"

He held the tea cup in his hands firmly as his mind raced with questions.  More  so on the current subject of who her sensei and team mates were going to be. Perhaps if she had some talented kekkai genkai shinobi on her team he could perhaps take some samples from them. Oh the many possibilities he could do if she had been placed with some capable shinobi.  But no he needed to focus he was also a little protective of Hana being  the only family he had really left within in the leaf village besides her mother. He heard her speak down of herself and shook her head. " Now now Hana you shouldn't put yourself down like that  everyone starts out bad at one thing or another but with time and practice those things that you are not good at can become your greatest strength. Take me for example I'm a jounin and i still am not very good at certain things." He broke his smirk and looked down at her untouched tea. "That reminds me I never got you anything for graduating the academy how about some time i take you to any restaurant of your choice for dinner with your mother?"
