Clan History: "The Uchiha clan descended from Indra, the elder of the two sons of the Sage of the Six Paths. Indra inherited the Sage's "eyes", powerful chakra and spiritual energy. When it came time for the Sage to choose a successor, he questioned the two on what course of action they would follow to bring order to the world. Indra believed that power was the way to bring peace, while Asura, the younger son, believed love was the way. The Sage favoured Asura's ideal, and therefore designated him as his successor, causing Indra to be filled with jealousy and hatred. Before the founding of the ninja villages, the Uchiha were one of the many mercenary clans for hire. Because of their Sharingan as well as battle prowess, the Uchiha clan came to be known as one of the two strongest clans, the other being the Senju clan. Madara Uchiha was particularly powerful, and, upon attaining the Mangekyō Sharingan, took control of the clan. Under his leadership the Uchiha grew stronger, conquering whatever clans they came upon, such that, whenever the Uchiha clan was hired for a job, the opposing side would hire the Senju, and vice versa."

Description: The Sharingan is the Kekkei Genkai of the Uchiha clan. It is awakened through extreme emotional strain, usually requiring the Uchiha to be in a desperate state. (Training described below) The Sharingan colors the user's iris red, and around the pupil are 1-3 (depending on mastery) commas, called Tomoe. As the Sharingan matures and becomes more powerful, its number of Tomoe increases.
The abilities of the Sharingan work in many ways. The most known way is it increases the user's eyesight precision. It allows the user to see the most minute movements, items, and details, and register a prediction of their movement in order to react at normally inhuman times, making them seem far faster than they are. This is listed as Bukijutsu Perception below.
Just as well-known, and formidable, is the user's ability to copy jutsu. By seeing a jutsu, Sharingan helps memorize and reproduce hand seals, positions, and method and focal point of chakra concentration (detailed later) in order to reproduce them later. This copy ability is limited to techniques the user has an ability to learn; I.E. Within their elemental and CS capabilities. The user cannot copy Kekkei Genkai or limited techniques. Copied techniques can be used freely within the topic they are copied, though either need to be trained or bought later, but will only be half-priced.
The next ability is to see chakra. Sometimes this ability is overlooked. It gives the user the ability to view someone's chakra pathway and chakra for many purposes, limited only by one's imagination. The main two uses are to copy jutsu and detect Genjutsu. By seeing a disturbance in one's chakra, a Sharingan user can determine if their chakra system is being influenced; and therefore if the observed person is under Genjutsu.
The final ability of the Sharingan is to augment Genjutsu. Many Genjutsu (though they have to be registered techniques separately) are usable only through the Sharingan, and tend to be stronger than other visual Genjutsu. Genjutsu triggers usually involve meeting eyes with, or seeing, the Sharingan.
