Kumo Genin

Kaji awoke early for some special training. He had wanted to get out early to try and train some of his genjutsu techniques. Walking to an area where there were several training dummies lined up he took his position. Lining up he cracked his neck, and then had fingers in preparation. His chakra levels had grown a lot in the past several days, and since he had become a genin. Pulling out his harmonica he played a little tune. Nothing happened. Of course he was just playing for fun. Focusing his chakra he developed the ability to allow most genjutsus to become sound based. Blowing once again into the harmonica he activated his chakra network. Flowing power into it, he unleashed his first genjutsu. Illusionary clouds began to form and swirl in the sky. In the next couple seconds rain began to fall, it had a purplish tinge to it. The ground and dummy began to smoke and fizz, with sections beginning to melt. Before this had really set in Kaji played another tune in rapid succession.

This time illusionary chains sprang from the ground and enveloped the target. It held him very tightly it seemed. The goal in this combo was to initially cause pain, and distraction then by using another genjutsu it became even stronger. Because now the foe would be enveloped in two illusions at the same time. Releasing the techniques he cracked his neck again. Taking in a sigh Kaji performs the techniques again. This time, he attempted to make the chains look more like dirt chains. Releasing the technique again, this time using his sharingan. This went on over and over, until he was able to make the chains look almost exactly like rock.

This was an attempt to hide the fact that it was a genjutsu. By making the chains look like earth, he hoped to make his enemies think he was using an earth style technique and not a genjutsu. This would hopefully confuse his opponents and keep them from trying to break out mentally, and they’d waste their time fighting physically, thus never letting the technique end. From there He continued to practice the skills, however this time once the sharingan where fully enveloping the target he practiced running towards the target and stabbing it with his wakizashi. His genjutsu techniques of course, would never kill an enemy, so he had to utilize other means.

This training lasted him most of the morning. It was hard work and he was sweating extensively by the time he was done. These techniques where both fairly powerful for his skill level at this time. Taking a short breather he reflected on what he had accomplished. He had been able to alter what his chain jutsu looked like and it made a big difference. After eating a few things, he stood up and went back to work, only this time he attempted to make it a three step combo. Standing in front of the dummies, he throws up a tiger sign and body flickers into a nearby tree, with harmonica in hand. Quickly blowing a note the illusion clouds once again appear and begin to rain. He then plays the next tune and the chains reach from the ground and grab the foe. Jumping down, and resuming the original position he attempts it again. This time he tries to work on the chain jutsu solely. By darkening the chain, and attempting to make an illusion of dirt flying he hopes to further lay down the farce of it being an earth style technique.

This seemed to work incredibly well. Maku was incredibly proud of himself. Now he advanced to a four step combo. First he would body flicker out of sight. Then the double genjutsu combo would be cast. Once this was set, Maku would body flicker again to stab the dummy in the back of the neck. Overall this four step combo was exhausting. He was only able to pull this combo off once every 25 to 30 minutes. His face was drenched in sweat after a couple times. Thinking back to his illusionary earth style he thought that soon he would have to actually develop some earth style techniques.

Once again Maku said by the water and attempted to use some earth style. Once again using his chakra, he attempted to move stone, create mud pits, or even just whip some dirt around. However like his earlier attempts these proved fruitless. Sighing, Maku knew that he was going to have to find someone to actually teach him these techniques; he could only get so far by himself. Perhaps next time he met up with his sensei Taiga, he’d ask him for some tips, or training tricks. That was what a sensei was for after all. He knew that earth style defense properties would help him in battle especially when he was a genjutsu user and needed the protection. Until then he felt his stomach growl so he decided to head on home and perhaps grab some food.

Walking home, he checked in for some refreshments. It felt good after a long day of training. After he finished eating he was walking around the village gates to see what he could see. When suddenly he saw a deer walking around. It was a large animal, and even though it wasn’t a proper measurement, Kaji thought he would try out his sharingan again. First he let the deer see him so it would run. Then body flickered into a nearby tree, and activated his sharingan genjutsu. The deer as expected seemed to think it was burning, quickly Kaji played his second tech and the deer instantly was restricted, and tried to break free. When it couldn’t Kaji body flickered once again behind the deer, and pulled his wakizahi and placed it behind the creature’s neck. He hadn’t unsheathed it since there was no reason to kill the animal. Walking a few paces before releasing his techniques, he watched as the deer ran into the woods. “Not bad at all” Kaji said as he de activated his Sharinagna and walked home.
