Story
It's been five generations after the first war between Samurai and Shinobi. The five villages were founded shortly after and there has never been a war between them. Until now, all five villages have been off limits to the outside world, however the gates have been opened and ninja were allowed to travel between. But suddenly, kage are falling ill and no one knows who's behind it. The Hokage and Raikage both lie in comatose state, awaiting an answer as to what put them there.

This is an excerpt from a page within the “O-Shanre-Su” which once held as the principal guide to the Kōkkai way of life. In its pages it is stated that the strength behind the clan was received as means of a gift by divine intervention. It is from the unpredictable and unyielding nature of the Ocean that the Kōkkai not only take their abilities, but their name as well, for Kōkkai literally means ‘Black Sea’. The entity that was the Ocean had granted its believers control over it’s vastness, it only requested of them one thing. To return on the day that it called, something so simple, at least they thought…

Adhering to the Ocean’s words, Mizu no Kuni and “Kirigakure”, which are close in proximity to the ocean, became the central location of the Kōkkai. Calling both the land and the sea their home, the Kōkkai used their abilities to create for themselves a wealthy empire in the fishing and preservation industry. The males of the clan typically used the control that the Ocean granted them to catch large sums of fish, never did they take more than they needed. The females of the clan would use their skills in the production of salt to preserve the meat that was caught by the men, thus allowing them to sell their preserved fish in the market and bringing in a form of income. Even with the addition of their insatiable appetite, their plan seemed flawless.

As the Kōkkai grew in number so did their minds in a manner of opening up to other forms of belief. Many hundreds of years after the development of the clan, a Kōkkai male by the name of Tasori who studied the abilities of the members had stepped forward with shocking claims. In his report, he hypothesized that their people did not come from the entity known as the Ocean, but that they were distant relatives of a noble clan from Konohagakure that shared similar, yet different traits. This way of thinking spread like wildfire throughout the clan and seemingly caused it to split down the middle. There were those that believed in the word as written in the “O-Shanre-Su”, they were called the Moushuu. On the other hand, there were those that believed in the facts that Tasori presented of being distant relatives of another clan, they were called the Yuigaron. This divide in the clan eventually evolved into a feud which then led to the development of the two modern day branches of the clan.

On the full moon for five months straight a pale green light could be seen often streaking up through the sky, then, moments later come streaking back down and meeting the sea out in the distance as far as the eye could see. Looking back through history, the Moushuu believed that this was a sign from the Ocean calling its believers back home. Coincidentally, the last night that can be recounted of seeing the light marked the beginning of the purging that accord within Kirigakure against those baring bloodlines. Hundreds of Kōkkai clansmen were slaughtered, the few that were able to trickle their ways to safety found refuge in the only available place, the sea.

Unfortunately, the Ocean retaliated against its followers for not coming back to it when it called, but rather when they needed it most. Thus, members of the clan were placed in a false sense of reality constructed by their minds from the blackness of the sea which put their bodies in a comatose state for over hundreds years. The Ocean felt that simply casting this illusion on them would mean nothing if they died, thus he granted them the ability to survive the harsh conditions of the deep without need for food or water.

This event in the Kōkkai timeline was called The Darkest Illusion. The first people that had become released from the despair that their own minds created escaped the sea and made way back to land, yet they had no recollection of why or how long they were at sea and because they had not aged they could not tell. By this time, the purges that once plagued the lands of Kirigakure no sato had ended, but the Kōkkai decided they’d rather not affiliate to deeply with the village again and decide to reside on the outskirts of the village. Thus, they repeated the events of their past to establish their civilization as they had done before, but every fifth full moon the members would take a trip to the sea to pay their respects.

Tasori and his followers still insisted that the logic behind his facts were indisputable and forced the clan to remain split. Each branch developing their own ways of approaching the history the clan, in addition to the development of special techniques known solely to each branch. Today, the clan is led by a single leader not stemming solely from the teachings of either branch, but from the teachings of both. Yet, this leader is chosen at birth by a panel of elders that govern the Kōkkai. The panel of elders and the leader typically work together on manners dealing with the clan, but a checks and balance system is established so that one doesn't over power the other.

With the Kōkkai on the rise to there former glory, only mistakes in their past can hold themselves back. From their bloodline stems a great danger in the form of versatility, now many dark things were possible for them. All that is hoped is that a great lesson was learned from their past and that one day the clan can become united once more.

[ Overview ]
The Kōkkai convert their body's calories into chakra while at the same time extracting the Sodium Chloride from the calories. While their main abilities revolve around the excess amount of salt that their bodies excrete, they have become adept in the use of Suiton - Water Release which accompanies their bodies ability to breathe underwater. Kōkkai members are known for their high chakra levels which comes to aid the unique style of fighting that they have developed. In addition, due to the versatility of their abilities, they have been known to not excel in a single area of jutsu, but in a broad spectrum of jutsu.

Atae no Enkai [ Gift of the Ocean ]
Salt is not only an essential ingredient of life, but a mere fraction of the versatile force that is the Kōkkai. Either through divine intervention or genetic inheritance, members of the Kōkkai clan have developed bodies that rapidly convert calories into chakra. This factor has gone to lead members of the Yuigaron branch in forming the hypothesis that they are distant relatives of another clan whose bodies act in the same manner, the only difference is that the Kōkkai’s does not stop there. The body of a Kōkkai member extracts the Sodium Chloride from the calories as they are being converted into chakra. In the conversion process the sodium chloride doubles in quantity as it is excreted through the sweat glands contained in the middle layer of the skin called the Dermis. The Kōkkai’s body naturally begin to form build ups of Sodium Chloride and as it is secreted through the Epidermis it shapes in the form of Salt.

Typically, the build up of so much sodium in a human’s body is negative in the sense that it causes the body to retain water, thus increasing their weight. Kōkkai members are forced to consume water on a frequent basis, this in turn, makes them go to the bathroom frequently as well. The side effects of having high sodium in the body such as High Blood Pressure, Hypernatremia, and Cardiovascular Disease have never occurred in members of the Kōkkai clan, their bodies are said to have built up immunity.

When a Kōkkai does not expel Salt regularly throughout the course of the day they begin to secrete it subconsciously from any random point on their body. This is sometimes comical in the sense that a member of the Kōkkai can begin to randomly have a trail of white salt following behind them, marking their location and path. As the Kōkkai grows in age and skill they come to develop a form of kinesis over the Sodium Chloride in their body, they can speed up the excretion of sodium chloride into salt and manipulate it at will. It is seen as a right of passage accomplished by members as young as four (4) years of age to begin to form small shapes and constructs upon command, though even in full grown members constructs and shapes never exceed anything outside the dimensions of four feet in length, width, and height. Even then, a simple touch is enough to cause these constructs to be dismissed, thus limiting any real danger to sensitive areas and open wounds without the aid of jutsu.

The massive amounts of food that the Kōkkai intake in their conversion process should make them bulky in nature; however, because of a genetic anomaly, they have an accelerated metabolism which makes the Kōkkai rather slender. They lack the ability to build up and store massive amounts of calories, but the condition is not so severe where they end up looking malnourished. Instead, it makes the Kōkkai the type of people who others love to hate for not having to work at their bodies to stay slender. The chakra levels of Kōkkai members are considerably high and to build up or restore their chakra reserves they eat in large quantities. Unfortunately, their bodies tire quickly and thus can not perform certain jutsu in succession without external means.

The physical modifications to the bodies of the members of the Kōkkai clan are minimum in number, though still are enough to reveal the possession of a Kekkie Genkai within their bloodline. Though there cannot be any claim to exclusivity of this ability, as there are no doubt other clans in possession of like features given the numerous variations of aquatic life forms within the ocean that shinobi may bare similarities to, the Kōkkai are one of a number of clans that can breath underwater. However, the telltale sign of this ability, in the form of gills on the human form, are not located where the pharyngeal slits are. Instead of being located on the neck, the Kōkkai have large slits that run on their chest parallel with the bottom ribs. The slits exist just below the pectoral muscles. These talents help when submerged in water where their speed is increased by a single rank.


Jouyaku no Mizuyajuu Fūin [ Pact of the Sea Beast Seal ]
Water is they key to life in addition to being the second half of the versatile force that is the Kōkkai. Upon birth, every member regardless of what branch of the Kōkkai they were born into will receive the Jouyaku no Mizuyajuu Fūin which acts as a reverse summoning jutsu. The Moushuu believe that by calling out to the seal with their chakra they begin a connection with the entity, the Ocean and in exchange they would receive access to a vast supply of water that is Black in color. Hence the connection of Black Sea and the clan name, Kōkkai. Taking the concept that they are people of the Ocean, the Jouyaku no Mizuyajuu Fūin supplies the water through the Kōkkai‘s body by expelling it from their sweat glands and through their epidermis at a speed determined by the user. From this ability, Kōkkai members prove to be true masters of Suiton [ Water release ] techniques.

Kōkkai members have taken notice that by allowing the Jouyaku no Mizuyajuu Fūin to integrate within their bodies a manifestation of the entity the Ocean develops within their psyche. The development of this manifestation occurs during adolescence when younger Kōkkai begin to learn of the elemental jutsu of the clan, thus it manifests in different shapes and forms according to the user. The manifestation of the Ocean is powerful in the sense that, if allowed to integrate too deep in the mind of a Kōkkai, it will become a form of a second will in their mind. At this point, the manifestation becomes akin to a split personality.


Kamae no KuroUmi [ The Style of the Black Sea ]
Kamae no KuroUmi is the product of applying principals from the Key of Life and the Essential Ingredient of life to form the principal fighting style of the Kōkkai which has been nicknamed, Shio Mizuton or Salt Water Style. Through jutsu, the Kōkkai were able to develop a way of mass excreting the salt from their bodies and integrating it into the water that stems from the Jouyaku no Mizuyajuu Fūin which also comes from their bodies. Unfortunately, the jutsu rely heavily on the energy in the user’s fat cells that come from their food consumption, but because of their accelerated metabolism Kōkkai members don’t have very much to give. Thus, they found new means of working around this.

With the integration of Salt in normal Suiton [ Water Release ] the properties of said techniques performed by Kōkkai members change. The Suiton jutsu performed by a Kōkkai member weigh significantly more than that of regular water or even other Suiton techniques simply because of the added salt, thus in a collision between a practitioner of Salt Water Style techniques and a regular Suiton technique a Kōkkai member’s jutsu will be on par with a jutsu of a single rank higher than that of the user’s. In addition, salt crystals do not conduct electricity very well, but when dissolved in a substance such as water it then conducts electricity very well, thus lightning techniques of the same and a single rank lower are drawn to the water techniques used by the user.

Like other clone techniques, this technique makes a replica of the user with the exception being that the clone is composed entirely of Salt. This technique traditionally uses the salt from the user's body to develop the clone, but an outside source can be used for development. Because of the composition of the clone, it can revert instantly back into salt in certain areas of it's body to trap oncoming projectiles or a single simple taijutsu strike from an opponent. However, a sufficient enough attack or one that destroys the entirety of the clone will cause the technique to dismiss. As the technique dismisses, a three (3) foot spray of salt will erupt in an opposite direction from the attack that dismissed the clone. Essentially, blinding an opponent and/or causing a severe burning sensation to any open wounds within the range.

As performed before every jutsu used in the Shio Mizuton | Salt Water Style, the user will ingest a number of Hyōrōgan - Soldier Pills which will allow fat cells in their body to produce energy that is converted into the chakra needed to produce sodium chloride in conjunction with producing water from their bodies by feeding chakra to the Jouyaku no Mizuyajuu Fūin | Pact of the Sea Beast Seal . The user releases a mist composed of chakra enriched water and salt from their pores, metals that come into contact with this mist begin to corrode and become enveloped by a thick coating of tarnish or rust in addition to receiving pits in their cutting edge and will continue to cut poorly until resharpened. Due to their control over their salt, the user can shape this mist into any form they wish.

By cupping the palm of both hands to the mouth, the user can utilize a more direct method by releasing the mist in a rapid stream like fashion through exhaling it. This substitutes for allowing the user to shape the mist. Due to the Salinity of the mist: open wounds, sensitive skin, and the eyes are susceptible to a burning and stinging sensation. The mist is translucent enough to provide a person looking through it with a blurry image, but movements and objects can be differentiated.

Weakness: Must make contact with the spray in order for the effects to occur. SSM and Legendary Weapons are excluded from being disintegrated.

Alright, there's a lot going on, so let's break this down piece by piece. I won't get into the Jutsu yet.

-But Chakra increase, why do you have it, and how much is it?
-Underwater adaptation, sure, it makes sense, but in this case them so should every water release user. You need to specify what kids of water, namely saltwater(?)
- KKG (Salt) Being as we discuss this in the Chatbox, I would like to see more than just Saltwater, but some pure salt jutsu, as well as other elements. After all, you do want some people to join, right?
- Heavy water, you added weight to get an ADDITIONAL perk on water style.

In truth, there's a lot going on, and there's little to zero drawback, other than needing water, (Like Hozuki) and you just have waaaaay too many perks going on.

- People are free to create their own jutsu when apart of this clan, the ones posted are the basics taught to any member. & like stated in the chatbox, the purpose of the kkg is to be used in conjunction with water and not specifically to be used by itself. Honestly, I don't care if people join this clan or not. If there is a section of the forum that grants me the ability to make a specific ability for my character then this can all be scrapped and I'd rather do that. So please point in the right direction...

Truthfully, there isn't a lot going on. It's just a lot of well explained information. If you want it broken down I can and will as provided below:

- Members bodies produce excess salt which they expel from their sweat glands to use in jutsu.
- A Clan specific seal allows them to utilize Suiton [Water Release] through the pores on their bodies.
- Since sweat glands are held in the pores it allows the users to use the two in conjunction to create Psuedo-Salt Water which makes up the clan member's primary fighting style

Then I'm going to ask you remove the things about CHakra.

And I do understand that Salt water is more dense than water... but I'm trying to balance to clan, without making you basically equal to a Kage when you're only a Chunin.

The jutsu thing was a suggestion, but I guess not... lol

But you're basically getting ...
- Water Breathing
- Water Release +
- Stome kind of telekinetic salt (So basically Magnet Release with salt only)
- The appearance of being "slender" while weighing more than normal
- Black water.

Am I missing anything, or is this about it for the most part? Please understand that I'm trying to limit this to be on par with the other clans, without favoring one or the other.

- People are free to create their own jutsu when apart of this clan, the ones posted are the basics taught to any member. & like stated in the chatbox, the purpose of the kkg is to be used in conjunction with water and not specifically to be used by itself. Honestly, I don't care if people join this clan or not. If there is a section of the forum that grants me the ability to make a specific ability for my character then this can all be scrapped and I'd rather do that. So please point in the right direction...

Truthfully, there isn't a lot going on. It's just a lot of well explained information. If you want it broken down I can and will as provided below:

- Members bodies produce excess salt which they expel from their sweat glands to use in jutsu.
- A Clan specific seal allows them to utilize Suiton [Water Release] through the pores on their bodies.
- Since sweat glands are held in the pores it allows the users to use the two in conjunction to create Psuedo-Salt Water which makes up the clan member's primary fighting style

Then I'm going to ask you remove the things about CHakra.

And I do understand that Salt water is more dense than water... but I'm trying to balance to clan, without making you basically equal to a Kage when you're only a Chunin.

The jutsu thing was a suggestion, but I guess not... lol

But you're basically getting ...
- Water Breathing
- Water Release +
- Stome kind of telekinetic salt (So basically Magnet Release with salt only)
- The appearance of being "slender" while weighing more than normal
- Black water.

Am I missing anything, or is this about it for the most part? Please understand that I'm trying to limit this to be on par with the other clans, without favoring one or the other.

Yes, the clan gets the following:

- Yes, Breathing Underwater
- Yes, 1 Rank Strength Increase to Water Release Jutsu
- Sorta, The Psuedo-Telekinesis is only with Salt that is not used in conjunction with chakra and jutsu, so the excess salt that spills from their bodies naturally.
- No, they have a High metabolism which causes them to eat more. (Members do not weigh more, not sure at all where you got this from. They just have a healthy appetite.)
- Yes, the appearance of the water they use is Black so there is an indication between regular Suiton and ShioMizuton jutsu.

Okay, my bad on the weight thing. I saw eating more food, then I saw the heavy water. Messed me up. lol.

Okay, well one of these things either needs to change or be removed:
- Minor "Magnetic" Salt
- Water Rank boost.

Now, this can be solved in 3 ways.
1.) add a boost in Ninjutsu skill, just as Uzumakie have a fUin boost, and remove the water+
2.) OR, Change the Water Plus, so your jutsu beats anything equal ranked if it is water. Making Salt > "Fresh"
3.) Create a Jutsu KKG that revolves around the salt around the body allowing you to control it.

Normally I wouldn't have a problem with this, but alas I do not own the site, and I cannot allow a Pseudo-Magnet KKG, no matter how small.

Not sure if you read the passage above, but nothing at all could make the salt that they control dangerous to anyone, thus can you explain what threat it is to have it in their abilities? Plus, the salt is not magnetic whatsoever, it's just able to be moved with the mind. Not to mention disabled by mere touch.

Once again, this is not a Psuedo-Magnet KKG. Telekinesis of basic salt not in used in Jutsu plus stemming from the users own body,

Then stating that the salt just floats around harmlessly would be good.

It doesn't float around harmlessly unless forced to by the user and I've pretty much stated that in my above quote and the application, but I'll post it again for you....

(I only looked at the Jutsu, Kaseki seems to be handling the KKG)

The only note I have is that you should include ranks of weapons your Salt Mist dissolves. Like the B rank dissolving whatever rank you see fit. I would also like to exclude SSM swords from that list. Also, you would need to train the jutsu additional times with the way that you have it. However, I suppose there could be WC reduction due to the fact that you already trained it on a lower rank.
