Tatsuyo

The eight year old sighed as he flipped through the pages of his book, his chocolate brown eyes quickly traveling down the page before moving onto the next one. Currently, he was at the library, trying to gain extra information on the the theory of chakra and on the basic academy techniques. So far, the book went much more in depth than his teacher did, although that made it more difficult to read and understand. It was a possibility he'd have to consult his mother to not only have some of this information explained, but to have assistance with defining and pronouncing some of the words being used. Speaking of, he was forced to pause his reading to squint and try to sound out a term he had never seen before.

"Ca...cardeee...Cardeovas..." he mumbled, his eyebrows furrowing as he struggled with the word. He leaned down and practically pressed his face into the book, "Cardeovascoolur...Cardeovascolar? That doesn't sound right..." He stared at the word, 'Cardiovascular'. He didn't even know what that was, but it was being compared the chakra pathway system, so it must have been important. With a pout he dropped his book onto the table in front of him, and sat back into his chair, crossing his arms. Tatsuyo didn't get why this had to be so frustrating. It was just some words in some stupid book. So why couldn't he get it? At this rate, he would never catch up with his actual age group.

What would his father say about his failure?

Scratching the back of his head, Suyo closed the book with his other hand before picking it up and rereading the cover. 'Advanced Chakra Theory' it read. His mother always told him he was bright, but perhaps he shouldn't have picked this up. The boy walked to one of the many near by bookshelves, returning the one in his possession to its rightful place. He scanned the other titles, searching for something that would be easier for someone like him to read. Eventually, he spotted the perfect one: 'Ninjutsu for dummies'. Now, although Tatsuyo didn't think he was a dummy, he was certain he'd be able to comprehend its contents. Carrying the book with him, he soon found a seat that seemed to be comfortable, and plopped down into it. Apparently he was right, the seat was comfortable. Moving on, Suyo opened up the first page and immediately began reading. Once he did, he couldn't believe his eyes. This book...it was...he could understand it perfectly! Then again, with the way everything was worded, it seemed like a read for six year olds. He supposed it made sense, though, with him being in a class for children around that age. He ignored the thought and tried to continue reading.

After what felt like five minutes, despite really being half an hour, he completed the section on introducing chakra and was in the middle of the section on the academy jutsu. The simplicity of it all left him astonished, however there was always less difficulty in saying things rather than doing them. He took a few more minutes to finish that section as well, and in no time at all he was done with at least 3/4ths of the book. That was all he needed, for now at least. He would probably return to it later in the week. Now, he was to test out the academy techniques for himself.

Once he exited the village library, Tatsuyo walked all the way back to the ninja academy. Classes had ended early that day, which was why he was at the library instead of going home. The second he arrived at the academy, the boy picked up his pace to reach the opening that was used for practice matches between students. Then, Suyo wasted no time in performing hand seals for the first technique he was going to practice. Tiger → Boar → Ox → Dog → Snake. A puff of smoke enveloped around his small frame, and once it dispersed, in the boy's place was a log. Standing several feet away from his original position, Tatsu grinned before preparing for another set of hand seals. Ram → Snake → Tiger. His hands flew through the sequence, and a mere second after they did another cloud of smoke appeared. However, this one was created in front of the child, and it blew away to reveal a carbon copy of himself. He had to admit...the clone jutsu was pretty cool. After inspecting his work for a few seconds, Suyo cancelled the technique and watched his clone go "bye-bye." He could only grin at his small accomplishment.

He'd surely catch up with the others his age soon.
